A Alegoria como Princípio Hermenêutico: o audacioso método de interpretação da Escola de Alexandria

Resumo

O tema central do presente texto é a alegoria como um princípio hermenêutico. Especificamente, o seu objetivo é caracterizar o método de interpretação alegórica tal como ele foi defendido e empregado pela famosa Escola de Alexandria na interpretação dos textos bíblicos. Para tanto, consideraremos, inicialmente, a gênese desse método, as suas raízes histórico-filosóficas e os seus principais representantes. O artigo encerra-se com algumas implicações filosóficas da caracterização apresentada.

Abstract

This article examines allegory as a fundamental hermeneutic principle, with an emphasis on characterizing the allegorical interpretation method as adopted and defended by the renowned School of Alexandria in biblical exegesis. To this end, the study first investigates the genesis of this method, its historical and philosophical roots, and its main exponents. The analysis culminates in a discussion of the philosophical implications arising from the allegorical approach outlined herein.
